Dead Space Footage: Headshots Less Effective These Days
EA Redwood, refusing to be content with the idea that a head shot can stop your attacker cold, has released new game play footage demonstrating death by total dismemberment. That’s right; only total dismemberment can keep these aliens at bay. Hit the jump to find out more information and impressions from the footage.

Left 4 Dead Release Date Announced
Valve has finally provided a release date for Left 4 Dead as well as shared some interesting information about the AI systems at work in their upcoming zombie-shooter title.
In an interview with Left 4 Dead project lead Mike Booth, Booth discusses the game’s “AI Director.” The AI Director monitors what each player is doing and makes sure that there are plenty of high and low points in the action to prevent an unstoppable army of zombies. The game will also procedurally place zombies to help create the high and low points of action rather than randomly or manually placing the zombies on the map. There are a few points in the video where this feature becomes evident when a zombie rushes up behind the player to cause pain and suffering.
Turtle Rock has also released a series of videos showing the game play in action and highlighting some seriously hectic moments in game play. I’ve embedded all of the videos below after the jump.
I don’t know how you guys feel about this game, but I’m ready for some zombie killing fun. How do you guys feel about this game, and will you guys be joining me on release date? I can’t fight zombie hoards alone.
Left 4 Dead will be released November 4th for the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. Turtle Rock hasn’t revealed any PS3 details as of yet.

In the video above, John McCain talks about his experiences with war throughout his life. Listen carefully to the music in the background. That orchestrated piece is from Medal of Honor: European Assult, and the use of the song by McCain has irritated composer Christopher Lennertz.

Real Men of Genius: Halo 3 Edition
By now I’m sure that nearly all of you reading this are aware of my love/hate relationship with Halo 3. Yes, I play it daily and love and hate every minute of it. This video, made to reflect the Bud Light “Real Men of Genius” ads, absolutely nails some of the major flaws that can be found in the game.
What the f***? The BR’s broken.
No commentsFirst Call of Duty 5 trailer emerges: More of the same?
This is the first trailer footage that we’ve seen of the next installment in the insanely successful Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: World at War. While the fourth game in the series, developed by Infinity Ward, did incredibly well, this next game is going back to Call of Duty’s roots with developer Treyarch, creator of the extreme let-down Call of Duty 3. The trailer, however, looks pretty enough and features enough explosions, gun-downs and flamethrowers to make any FPS fan’s pants tighter. Let’s just hope that Treyarch stays true to the fundamental gameplay elements that made Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare so great.
On another note, I said “Call of Duty” five times in four sentences. I didn’t think it could be done. Mom always said I was special.

3 commentsFitness Guru Reviews Wii Fit
Lately, it seems that all of my friends are addicted to Wii Fit. Many of them are regularly using it, and when I asked one of them if Wii Fit is really making a different he said, “Well, a week ago I could even do a single push-up.” Bravo!
So, the users seem to enjoy Wii Fit, but what do fitness gurus think about the game? Sarah from Diet.com tried out the game (video above) and shared her thoughts on the game. Overall, she enjoyed the experience but points out a few items of interest.

Super Deluxe does it again with this humorous take on rehabilitating World of Warcraft junkies. The video bothered me though. Would a woman really tear a man from WoW like that? I set out to find the answer in the typical investigative reporting style.
Sadly, my MMO junkie friend who is getting married was unavailable for comment, because he’s currently trying to find his body.

1 commentCastlevania: Order of Ecclesia Trailer Makes Me Happy
I’m a little late on the uptake with this post. This video hit the internet some time last week, but my recent move to a new apartment kept me from posting this like the good video game blogger I try to be. Bad Kel!
A trailer for the upcoming Castlevania title has been released. The trailer shows some awesome artwork as well as some scenes from the game. I’m a huge fan of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and this new installment of Castlevania looks to be the same mix of side-scrolling action and RPG elements that we’ve come to know and love.
I would also like to go on record by saying that an elevator is my new favorite weapon to destroy giant mutant crabs.
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia will be released in the Fall of 2008 for the Nintendo DS.

3 commentsThis Week’s Band Band DLC: Disturbed Buffett
Part of this week’s DLC might be free for those of us who pre-ordered the new Disturbed album from Best Buy. The rest of us will just have to get the tracks at the discounted price!
The following tracks will be available on Xbox Live’s Marketplace beginning June 3rd:
- “Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffett
- “Cheeseburger in Paradise” by Jimmy Buffett
- “Volcano” by Jimmy Buffett
- “Indestructible” by Disturbed
- “Inside the Fire” by Disturbed
- “Perfect Insanity” by Disturbed
All of the tracks are original master tracks. Jimmy Buffett recorded new tracks just for use in Rock Band. The Jimmy Buffett tracks will cost 440 Microsoft Points for all three songs or 160 Microsoft Points for individual tracks. The Disturbed pack will be available for 240 Microsoft Points or 80 Microsoft Points for individual songs, but this price is only available for a limited-time! The video for “Inside the Fire” is above. Hit the jump for previews of the other five tracks.
I’m happy to see the Disturbed tracks available. I’ve felt that the hard rock/metal scene has been neglected, so I’m happy to see these tracks. How do you guys like the new DLC?

4 commentsResident Evil 5 Trailer: Zombies!!!!
Resident Evil has always been one of my favorite game series. The suspense of having a zombie or mutant dog jump out and attack me is second-to-none. Nothing beats the warm, fuzzy feeling I get knowing that I get to keep my kidney for a little while longer.
A new Resident Evil 5 trailer has been released that just looks sweet. There were a couple moments with tons of zombies on screen as well as some suspenseful moments. Capcom is getting ready to give me the bloody good time I want. What do you guys think? Are you all excited for some zombie killing?
Resident Evil 5 will be released in 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

3 commentsNew Guitar Hero: On Tour trailer promotes failure, discourages buying the game
A new trailer for Guitar Hero: On Tour is out, and I have to say that it just plain sucks.
It’s not very well done and it just keeps on going, so it ends up being embarrassing for everyone involved.
I know this isn’t meant to be a serious trailer, but I don’t think it was supposed to be this bad either. They are trying to sell a game, after all. They could have went with the easiest option and just put some almost naked chicks in there somewhere, or they could have followed the Guitar Hero: World Tour approach and just showed people rocking out with a list of features, both of which would have ended up a lot better than some guy picking his DS and some dumbass singing about all the features. Especially when you have the kind of features that Guitar Hero: On Tour has.
9 commentsGuitar Hero: World Tour drumming info with video
Above is a video of Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Chad Smith, blink-182’s Travis Barker, and The Police’s Stewart Copeland babbling about how great Guitar Hero: World Tour’s drumset is. This can probably confirm that all of these bands will be featured in the game. It’s also revealed that the set will be sensitive to velocity, meaning how hard you hit the pads on the wireless drumset will determine how loud the volume will be in the game.
