Telltale Games developers of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People are having a weekend contest where users submit tag lines for the fictional game Snake Boxer 5, which plays a significant role in the first episode. The winner’s name will appear somewhere in the episode. Telltale isn’t telling anyone where the name will show up though. It’s a secret!

Review: Professor Layton and the Curious Village

As Nintendo tries to take over the casual gaming market, one of the biggest complaints has been the excess of minigame compilations and brain training programs. While non-traditional gamers can more easily enjoy these types of games, the lack of depth turns many people off. In this regard, Professor Layton and the Curious Village comes as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Layton is, in essence, a collection of puzzles and riddles, but it is wrapped in the enticing shell of a point and click adventure game. The full review after the jump.

MEGAMonday New Releases: 02/18/08

February 18th, 2008 | Category: DS, New Releases, PC, PSP, PlayStation 3, Point and click, Wii, Xbox 360

MEGAMonday New Releases

This week is solid, with many solid titles in place of a blockbuster game. Gamers of every genre will be satisfied, from sports to shooters to action and adventure games.

The tried and true button mashing gameplay of Dynasty Warriors is back, filling the need for medieval ass-kicking. Those with a thirst for blood can check out the third-person shooter The Club. A new Dragon Quest game is coming to the Wii, tiding over those wanting an RPG fix.

Most possibly the most looked forward to game this week comes out on not one of the mighty next-gen consoles, but a handheld. The Ace Attorney series has what can easily be called a cult following, and this time Phoenix Wright has stepped down, leaving new attorney Apollo Justice to fill his shoes. Whether Apollo will have as rabid a fanbase as Phoenix Wright did is to be determined, but surely it will provide a great experience Ace Attorney followers will enjoy.

What are you picking up this week?

LEGO Indiana Jones Flash game

February 15th, 2008 | Category: 1337, Ads, PC, Point and click

LEGO.com Indiana Jones web game

LEGO Indiana Jones Adventures, a side-scrolling flash game created by Three Melons, can now be played at LEGO.com. It tasks you with collecting coins and secret items while avoiding spikes, spears, spiders, rolling rocks, deep ravines, and other obstacles that are harmful to your hard plastic exterior. By timing your clicks right, you don’t lose any lives hats (since that’s obviously where Indy gets his sustenance) and won’t be flattened by the giant boulder. Pablo Mayer and Augusto Petrone, Producer and Lead Game Designer for the game, explained that they “wanted to keep true to the Indiana Jones story, provide astounding visuals and mouse driven gameplay that allows everybody to play but makes it complex to achieve the maximum score possible.”

That seems like the aim of almost every flash game ever (with the exception of the Indiana Jones part), and Three Melons has succeeded in creating a decent if simple game. The visuals may not be “astounding,” but they get the job done - just look at those incredible hat physics!

It’s a fun little web game and should be a good diversion if you need something to do instead of work or school, so head on over to LEGO.com to play.
