Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Born Early at Gamestop

September 04th, 2009 | Category: Nintendo, Upcoming Games, Wii

demonblade

As I have been following this title for awhile it was somewhat confusing to me to see that Gamestop is now shipping this title (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73359) where as many others including IGN and Amazon denote the release date as the 8th. I have acquired myself a copy from Gamestop as of today and can attest to its’ availability at my locale.

Gamestop slip up?   Shipped early/some sort of deal Gamestop made without my knowledge?    I’m just happy to say that if you head to Gamestop you should be able to purchase Muramasa today.

And Yet, It Is Incredible

August 23rd, 2009 | Category: Demo, Hype Machine, Impressions, Indie games, Mac, PC, Platformers, Puzzle, WiiWare

And Yet It Moves, a puzzling solving platformer from independent developer developer Broken Rules for the Mac, PC, and soon coming to WiiWare, will instantly make you think of Braid.  Though the two games look and play nothing alike, Braid has somewhat become the mantle-piece for indie games in the gaming subconcious, the shining example of the greatness than can be achieved without a big-name publisher and developers who want to think outside of the box.  It doesn’t help that both are platformers, either, but as soon as you set your fingers to the five keys that control the world of And Yet It Moves you will become engrossed in a game that stands alone. Top Five Videogames Items I’d Strap on in Real Life

August 13th, 2009 | Category: Gaming Industry, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony

#1 - The Triforce

(From The Legend of Zelda series, this legendary item grants wishes to
those who touch it)

This is my easy everything in one item….seeing as it grants wishes - I just can’t conceive of what exactly I’d wish for at this point.   Obviously though, having wishes granted is top notch.

#2 - Portal Gun

(As seen in Portal - creates two portals, an entrance and an exit)

Not just for getting from point A to point B….As is evidenced in this picture

Under-marketed End of the Year Video Game Gem

Demon’s Souls

demons-souls-cover

After reading about how old-school punishing this game is….I was deeply intrigued especially when I read an article (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3172516) detailing a 3 point gap (9 to 6) between two of Famitsu’s reviewers where the quotes that Nick Des Barres points out - the reviewer on the low end simply complains about inaccessibility and difficulty where as the other reviewer finds it to hearken straight from the retro days and to be extremely rewarding…”The basis of this game is trial and error… the lack of checkpoints in the stages is punishing,” wrote Leona Ebihara, while Sugashi Kawada said, “Since death means the end in this game, I might compare it to an expert chess problem.”   After reading that I find myself greatly amused as it has become so commonplace in games these days for ‘death’ to not mean ‘game over’ or ‘the end’ to a point where you can even say that “death means the end in this game” as death is no longer an end in games.

Fat Dudes and Rubber Bands: Week 1 update and review

June 14th, 2009 | Category: Articles, Fat Dudes and Rubber Bands, Reviews, Uncategorized, Wii

According to EA Active, this video may just be the pinnacle of exercise. READ ON TO SEE WHY!

Last week, I gave my background story on why I picked up EA Sports Active, and gave some initial measurements of my fatness. So, how did I fare this week with Active? Did I lose any weight? Did I decide to just hop on a treadmill? Did I realize being fat is awesome in this day and age of triple-bypass surgeries and just binge on doughnuts and whole milk?

…now I want a doughnut… Read more

Fat Dudes and Rubber Bands: My first day with EA Active

June 08th, 2009 | Category: Fat Dudes and Rubber Bands, Nintendo, Wii

eactive
So, I’ve been a fat dude for awhile, and, for the past three years or so, I was fairly comfortable with it. I had a girlfriend, I was in a small, close-knit community where everyone knew me, and I generally didn’t feel it really was holding me back. However, in the past two months, a lot has changed. I’ve graduated and moved back home to a city full of strangers, my girlfriend and I broke up, and now some of my favorite shirts are gettin a bit tight. I decided it was time to do something about my jiggly bits, but I was too nervous to go a gym (OMG, a gamer with social malfunctions? NO WAI), don’t have the money for a personal trainer, and, honestly, I HATE working out. So, I looked into EA Active, the latest in the long line of fitness products for the Wii. I still had some graduation money to burn, so I figured, why the hell not? Read more
