SouthPeak Games announces Roogoo for XBLA and PC

From what I understand, this is a multi-player puzzle game that has the player guiding falling blocks onto a rotating disk in order to lead the people of planet Roo to salvation. Apparently the blocks are supposed to be meteors of some sort, too. Hm, that doesn’t sound like anything I’ve heard of before…
Anyway, the art looks pretty cool, and I’m sure that the whole 3D-disk-spinning thing will be pretty neat. SouthPeak promises solid game mechanics and innovative gameplay, too! Expect this one to come out around April.

Wow, it’s been a while. I’ve been off in India and couldn’t fulfill my weekly duties due to my only Internet access being from slow cyber cafes, but now that I’m back Previously on MEGATONik will return. This is going to be an extra large edition since it’s going all the way back to December 16th of last year. It may not all be relevant anymore, but if you’ve been off vacationing or gone for any other reason now is your chance to get caught up on what’s been going on at MEGATONik. Besides the usual news, videos, reviews, and original articles, we also hired a number of new writers, whose articles I’m sure you’ve noticed. Here it is, over a month’s worth of articles all listed, linked, and organized:

This week brought news on everything from Call of Duty 4 to Halo 3, along with some big numbers for Assassin’s Creed and the Nintendo DS. There were of course some new trailers, some of which were awesome but others which were just lame. Then there were a couple reviews and some impressions too, along with another new writer. Hit the jump for it all.

This was a busy week here at MEGATONik, with plenty of news and two new writers to keep things fresh (feel free to flame greet them here and here). The controversy surrounding Gerstmann’s sudden firing from GameSpot has slowed down, and with GameSpot’s official confirmation and response it’s time to accept that we probably won’t ever know the details of how it all went down (or at least not for a while). The week began with plenty of DLC, and then some bad news for any Xbox Live Silver members hoping to get it. Then the reading level of this blog (along with plenty of others) was tested, and the week’s news was rounded out by some legal issues like a ludicrous survey about what gamers think about the government’s interaction with games and an even more ludicrous lawsuit against Bungie. Weekly Retro Review returned with a great SNES review, and I posted my lengthy review of one of the best games this year. We also tackled the casual gaming on Facebook and games parents need keep their kids away from. As for trailers, there were two, one which was awesome and the other which was disappointing. Hit the jump for everything I’ve just rambled on about, along with plenty more too.

Fortunately the drought of good games releasing this week didn’t stop there from being plenty of news, as we are now fully recovered from Thanksgiving. As we near December 4th more information is pouring out about the Xbox 360 dashboard update, from exciting new features to incredibly bland and unneeded ones. Plenty more happened, but the one event that caused the gaming communities of the internet to collectively explode with hate, anger, and many other strong emotions was the firing of Jeff Gerstmann from GameSpot. While the exact details are still vague and still just rumors, gamers nearly unanimously supported Gerstmann and made their contempt for GameSpot and CNET’s actions clear. Hit the jump for all that and everything else we’ve written since the 25th of last month.

This was a bit of a slow week here at MEGATONik, since we were all too busy fattening up on turkey and being thankful to post a whole lot. If you were similarly busy and didn’t have a chance to check dailyhourly for new posts like you always do (…right?) or just want to look back on the week, hit the jump for the usual list of this past week’s posts.

This week was one of the busiest ones yet here at MEGATONik, and one of the most crowded seven days for game releases since we started keeping track. There was some Guitar Hero III news following its release, and also some on Rock Band in anticipation of its fast approaching release date. There were also plenty of videos, headlined by the trifecta of sexy Mass Effect videos - from alien strip clubs to disappointing lesbian sex to slightly less disappointing lesbian sex. Point and click your way through the jump for all that alien ass and of course much more.

Another week has passed, and so it is that time again where I gather together everything from the last 7 days and present it to you in a conveniently linked list, for you to ignore (since you’ve read it already, because you check the site every day, right?) and possibly even comment on my hastily written intro. You should know the drill by now, so hit the jump and have at it.
