Something is Seriously Wrong Here
Discounting The Conduit, It’s hard to remember the last time that I have been so excited about a standalone game release. And it turned out in the end that the great majority of the hype surrounding that game was completely based in reality. The graphics are excellent, the weapons are well-varied, the voice-acting is absolutely top-notch, and with Wii aiming control you can play this first-person shooter exactly as FPS are meant to be played. It is truly, for a number of reasons, one of the best first-person shooters currently available–especially in multiplayer.
But as starved as I was for a truly good first-person shooter, I’m always motivated to consider a game’s story. And in The Conduit, the story is the game’s major weakness. It’s hard to determine which is the most flawed part of the game’s narrative, as a number of issues repeatedly rear their ugly head.
