Virtual Console/WiiWare Monday: 9/1/08

All I can say is that it’s about damn time.

Super Mario RPG (800 Wii Points) finally hits North American Wiis. For anybody out there that hasn’t played this game, do yourself a favor and pick it up. It’s an RPG… featuring Mario… made by Square. Can you really go wrong? Buy it, buy it, buy it, you worthless maggots!

The illustrious Clu Clu Land (500 Wii Points) also makes its way to American soil, which offers up some solid arcade-style gameplay and one of Nintendo’s most adorable-yet-forgotten characters. Moreover, Clu Clu Land has a unique control scheme which has the player clinging to poles set around the stage and uncovering what appear to be rupees in order to make a hidden image. I dunno, from what I remember of this game when I played it in Animal Crossing, it wasn’t half bad.

Lastly, WiiWare brings us the thoroughly exciting My Aquarium (500 Wii Points). That’s right, you can finally make your very own virtual aquarium to relive all of those endless hours you’ve spend at your aunt’s house staring at her real aquarium wishing you could just go home and play Super Mario RPG. This might appeal to someone, but I highly doubt that person would ever bother reading a gaming blog and as such I would just like to point out that anybody that buys this game and doesn’t get Super Mario RPG is a terrorist.

Fuck, Nintendo, why even bother releasing any other games this week?

YESS!! A reason to turn my wii on!! Super Mario RPG is a fantastic game! Hopefully we get some more of these quality titles, and less shovelware?

Here’s for hoping for Earthbound soon too….Finally SMRPG…I’ve been waiting to download this, and yes I know I could be emulating it….but I think you understand. Fantastic game from the bits of it I can remember. Which means it’s about time to give it another run for my money. As far as maggots are concerned I may be reading too much into this, but it simply makes me think of Astaroth….my brother always played a lot of Astaroth in Soul Calibur. Thanks for the post, or I probably wouldn’t have noticed for ages.

I might pick up SMRPG even though I own an SNES cartridge. I also have Clu Clu Land on my copy of Animal Crossing, and that’s one that’s NOT worth having two of.

Never got into SMRPG. I didn’t think it was bad, I was wise enough to realize it just wasn’t my thing.

I can’t wait to play this, but Nintendo’s timing couldn’t have been worse. Chances are that I won’t have time to get into this until after Christmas, at which time I will probably be getting a ton of other games to play.
