CAN’T BE UN-SEEN!
Have you ever noticed something new about a thing you’ve looked at a thousand times before? In my 20 years of gaming, I’ve encountered a few such items that I’d like to share with you, my adoring fans.
The clouds are bushes!
First–and probably most well-known–is in Super Mario Bros. for the NES. I don’t remember when this was pointed out to me exactly, but I know it wasn’t until years after I had originally played it. As it turns out, the bushes are just recolored clouds. This would mark the beginning of Nintendo reusing the same shit over and over and over again.
X, Box, 360
This one was only brought to my attention recently, but since it was pointed out I can’t look at my Playstation controllers in the same way. X, square, circle… it could be translated as X BOX 360. As a kicker, the only button that isn’t in on this conspiracy is green.
Not so handsome
007’s mouth is about twice as wide as his face in this box art. Here’s my MS Paint rendition of what he’d look like without that gun in his face:
UR MR GAY
I originally saw this on 4chan’s /v/ and have since referred to Super Mario Galaxy as “Ur Mr Gay.” If you’ll look at the little sparkles on the lettering, you’ll notice that they only show up on certain letters. A subliminal message from Nintendo? Could our beloved Mario in fact be the notorious Mr. Gay? Only time will tell.
Another clone?
Stan Lee and Liquid Ocelot are the same person. ‘Nuff said.
How does she hear?
Cream the Rabbit, who made her debut in Sonic Advance 2, has the incredible power to flap her ears in order to fly. Perhaps more incredible is the fact that her ears are on backwards and I didn’t notice until fully two years after I played Sonic Advance 2.
Never been kissed
Wario has no lips. It’s like the flaps of skin that would have formed his mouth were cut off in some sadistic experiment or something. While you’d think this would prevent him from being able to pronounce certain letters–”p” and “m” spring to mind–he still says things like, “I’m Wario, I’m-a gonna win!” Impossible. That dude’s mouth must be dry as Dry Dry Desert.

As far as the Goldeneye thing, that’s his hand holding the gun, not his mouth on the other side of the pistol.
Funny stuff!! I never noticed any of these things.
Yeah, Dexter beat me to the goldeneye thing. A lot of these are a tad overreaching. So what if an animated character has backwards ears or no lips?
