New Guitar Hero: On Tour trailer promotes failure, discourages buying the game
A new trailer for Guitar Hero: On Tour is out, and I have to say that it just plain sucks.
It’s not very well done and it just keeps on going, so it ends up being embarrassing for everyone involved.
I know this isn’t meant to be a serious trailer, but I don’t think it was supposed to be this bad either. They are trying to sell a game, after all. They could have went with the easiest option and just put some almost naked chicks in there somewhere, or they could have followed the Guitar Hero: World Tour approach and just showed people rocking out with a list of features, both of which would have ended up a lot better than some guy picking his DS and some dumbass singing about all the features. Especially when you have the kind of features that Guitar Hero: On Tour has.
Like shouting “Rock Out” to activate star power? I thought the point of a Nintendo DS version of Guitar Hero was (besides them milking the franchise as much as possible, as if they haven’t already done that enough with yearly releases, artist and decade specific versions, and the addition of drums and vocals) that it was portable. You’re supposed to be able to play it anywhere - in the subway, in your cramped cubicle, during a hostage situation - and you’ll look very foolish shouting “Rock Out” into a DS in public. You’d probably even feel foolish shouting it in the privacy of your own home, and since there’s another way to activate it I don’t even see why they chose to include a vocal option at all.

Wow, that was… wow.
To be fair, they listed some pretty sweet features. I’m actually looking forward to the versus mode now. As far as having to scream into the mic, I’m sure that just blowing into it will work too. The reason they included it for activation is because I’m sure there will be times that you’re too busy strumming to move your hand off the screen and onto a button. That’s why tilting the guitar works so well.
They could have included speech recognition so you actually do have to say “Rock out!” instead of just blowing into the mic.
Personally, I wouldn’t feel that much more foolish shouting this on the train, but then, I would feel pretty foolish buying this game anyway, which has so much going against it it’s not even funny.

The DS in the video is low on power. The suckage of On Tour is draining its battery to shit.
