Pole Position, now for your iPod

Namco Bandai has announced today that they have released Pole Position: Remix for the Apple iPod today, and the game is available for the price of $4.99 through the iTunes service. Pole Position: Remix is a remake of Pole Position II, and will feature the original four levels the game had, as well as the iPod exclusive Misaki Point race track. The game can be purchased and played on any iPod Nano with video, iPod classic, or fifth generation iPod.

I can imagine that the game would be easy and simple to control using the iPod’s click wheel. I would never pay that much money to play Pole Position on my iPod, but I do think the iPod is becoming a new path for casual gaming, especially since Harmonix’s Phase was released on the MP3 player. Still, I’d love to see more Namco classic arcade games heading to this device.

I don’t care until they make games for the iPod Touch. Seriously, the screen is perfect, and there are online games that use the touch screen great, so why can’t Apple release some?

Can you listen to your own music while playing Pole Position? Will they ever get to something superior, like Mach Rider?
