The Princess Bride game makes Wallace Shawn roll over in his– wait, he’s alive?
Let me start off by saying that The Princess Bride is a great movie. It’s got action, and comedy, and Spaniards. So when i first heard about the game, I thought to myself “Now there’s an interesting idea!” Reviving old movies as games seems like a new sub-genre full of potential. Is anyone else excited for the new Dirty Dancing game? *crickets*
Unfortunately, licensed games only truly work when the original talent is involved in the game, as evidenced in this year’s The Simpsons Game. It’s a no-brainer that Andre the Giant won’t be providing any voices (Spoiler: He’s dead). But that leaves the burning question of why they couldn’t even license the movie’s most famous soundbite (Wallace Shawn’s “Inconceivable!”), which gets bastardized at the end of the trailer.
Though the game does have a nice cartoon aesthetic, the lack of any involvement from the original cast leaves me skeptical.
Also, why is ‘.Com’ included in the logo? Possible MMORPG? Hmmm….

Umm, why?
The movie wasn’t that good; honestly, it had a couple memorable lines but it just wasn’t that good.
And anyone who thinks it was good is obviously a
homosexualvery smart person.Screw you, backflip. Some of us are more cerebral than your teen-movie-watching, Halo-3-playing ass.
Bfeld is so totally flaming right now.
I’m with BFeld. The Princess Bride is one of the best movies ever made. If you think it wasn’t that good, then you are, in fact, wrong.
How is it a good movie? It’s the most cliche piece of garbage that I’ve ever seen. Couple that with the fact that the protagonist looks like he has sucked his fair share of dicks in his lifetime and the movie is gay.
Gay, gay, gay.
Backflip as resident professional film critic (I have credentials, let me show you them) you are wrong on 500 majillion levels. The princess bride is one of the greatest moves ever made. Not only is it smart enough to be a parody of the cliches of all those adventure films it also has action and romance on top of that. NOt to mention the sort of sword fighting that hasn’t been seen since the Errol Flynn era of swashbuckling adventures. If liking Princess Bride is gay then I am proudly a flaming homosexual.

If you go to the site there is a link to “download game.” There it only mentions the game as being downloadable, so that’s probably all it is and it won’t be on consoles.
As long as this stays true to the movie and has decent gameplay I’m there. A totally sweet idea…
