Matsuura is Bringing Back the Beat

By Razak

Quick hit here for all you PaRappa lovers out there. Looks like the men behind the magic are back at it, designing a new game for the Nintendo Wii. Masaya Matsuura, the creator of PaRappa and UmJammer Lammy has teamed back up with New York artist Rodney Greenblat. Greenblat created the distinctive art style in both games. The game is in development at NanaOn-sha, a Japanese company that Matsuura is president of. Not much else has been released on the game at this point except for a late 2008 release date.

Good to see that there is some hopefully decent rhythm gaming coming to the Wii since Boogie left a bad taste in almost everyone’s mouth. Now lets all cross our fingers for an Elite Beat Agents 2 coming to our shores too.

This is good news for me, but I hope it doesn’t go the way of the music minigame in Zack & Wiki. That is to say, I hope they don’t use the Wiimote’s motion sensing for the game, because it’s just not accurate enough compared to digital buttons.

I’m a big fan of the Matsuura games and the fact that Rodney Greenblat has joined the team makes me really hopeful that there will be an awesome game.
