Dreamcast 2 coming? Doubt it, but it’s fun to imagine so
Looks like the SEGA Corporation has filed a patent to protect the Dreamcast name. Of course, many people are speculating that there may be a Dreamcast 2 in the works…Although I highly doubt that a Dreamcast 2 is coming out, I do enjoy the idea of it all. Here’s what the patent protects:
“Home video game machines; player-operated electronic controllers for electronic video game machines; video game interactive controller, namely, hand held pads, and floor pads or mats; joysticks for video games; computer cursor control devices, namely, computer mouse; flash memory cards; video game software, computer game programs.”
The USPTO says that the original Dreamcast trademark is still active, though the two patents are very different from each other (read the original here). SEGA is most likely protecting the Dreamcast name, but it’s still fun to imagine another addition to the console wars.
Boy, do I miss the good old days…

Weird, weird idea.
There was a mod scene for the VMUs, I downloaded a mini Tetris on one of my VMUs…. man I loved the Dreamcast.
