EA giving out free games for Rock Band replacement guitar delays

Rock Band Fender Stratocaster Guitar

According to an e-mail from Electronic Arts posted by a user in the Rock Band forums, anyone who requested a replacement guitar for Rock Band and didn’t get it in a timely manner will be receiving a free game courtesy of EA. From what I’ve heard the replacement process for Rock Band peripherals is incredibly easy and hassle free, and the fact that people who were “subject to an unacceptably long delay” will now be receiving a game along with their new guitar controller seems like a really great thing for EA to do. Here is the e-mail that some have recieved:

Greetings Rocker,

Congratulations on your purchase of Rock Band!

After reviewing our records, we see that your recent request for a replacement guitar has been subject to an unacceptably long delay due to a late shipment from our manufacturer.

By the time you receive this, your replacement guitar should be on its way to you. However, the Rock Band team is committed to providing a world-class customer experience and we do not believe we have met this commitment in connection with your request. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we will be offering you a FREE EA game. Details will follow shortly.

We are sorry if your first experience with Rock Band has not met your expectations. We hope our gift will show you how committed we are to your satisfaction.

Thank you,

The Rock Band Team

Others in the thread said they had also received the above e-mail, which pretty much confirms that this is real. EA really seem to be doing a great job with Rock Band customer support, and it looks like they’re definitely providing the “world-class customer experience” they’re striving for, at least with Rock Band. I guess that’s one of the advantages of being such a huge company, and all the money they’re trying nickel and dime from people with their other games is actually going to good use.

Free games? Eh…this reminds me of the PS2 demo thing. I got a free game after a demo disc with Veautiful Joe 2 on it, deleted all of my memory card data. I got Sly 2 and it didn’t make up for my memory cards being empty at all. It only brought more frustration.

Yeah, but having all of your saves suddenly deleted because of a flaw in a game is much worse than just having to wait a little longer for a free replacement controller.

If anyone gets NCAA 08, I’ll buy it off them for a little cheaper than retail.

Anybody know if we get a choice in the game, or if they just send a random EA game?

It’s probably going to be a mass mailing for an XBLA game.

Will I get a choice even though I never got a goddamn reply e-mail back from EA Support on my first notice? Fucking retarded. I still have heard NOTHING.

Edit: NVM, seems that the e-mail went to a different e-mail account, and I just got an e-mail not too long ago that says I get a free game. ROCK ON. It will NOT be Madden 08, that’s for sure.
