Xbox 360 fall update comes Dec. 4th, puts people to sleep

This year’s Xbox 360 fall update will officially be coming December 4th, a little over a week from now. In past seasonal updates, Microsoft had released many neat and useful features; however, this update will do nothing of the sort. This year’s fall update will allow you to see your friends’ friends lists and … not much else. Additionally, as reported earlier, you will be able to download such Xbox Originals as Halo: Combat Evolved, Fable and Crimson Skies among others.

However, Microsoft plans to announce other updates at a later date. For now, I’ll have to go ahead and say that Microsoft is copping out early with this season’s update.

Hit that sexy button below to read the full press release.

Microsoft is making it even easier to expand your Friends network on Xbox LIVEĀ®, starting with the Fall Dashboard Update on December 4. You’ll be able to check out the friends lists of fellow Xbox LIVE members right from the Dashboard. With this new feature, members can find old friends or connect with new ones within the community of more than eight million people on Xbox LIVE around the globe and send messages and game invites, as well as compare games and Achievements.

With the prevalence of social media websites such as MySpace and FaceBook, this type of capability has largely come to be expected from consumers as a means to relate in an online community. Xbox LIVE continually seeks new ways to better serve the expectations of its members, which often result in free enhancements made available through the bi-annual Dashboard updates.

Friends List Settings
When the Fall Dashboard update is distributed on December 4, the new default setting on Xbox LIVE will be active, enabling members to see the Friends lists of other Xbox LIVE members. If you’d like to keep your friends list private, you can take the following steps to change your settings beginning today:

Log in to www.xbox.com/fof and select one of the three options available for your Gamertag:

* Everyone (only available to members 18 and older)
* Friends only (available to members 13 and older)
* Blocked (available to all members, and automatic for anyone under the age of 13)

Stay tuned for more information about the Xbox 360 Dashboard Update later this month!

    Happy now?

Yeah, I forgot to include the Xbox Originals because they were announced at an earlier time.

How much disk space are XBox games going to take up? I feel like my Premium certainly won’t be up to the task.

The only Xbox Originals I’d want are Halo 1 and Psychonauts, and I already own both. I’m tempted to purchase Psychonauts again just to support Tim Schafer, but I’ll probably just wait for his new game to come out…

Psychonauts is mainly what I’m looking to get, as I’ve never played it, but I’m just wondering if it’s going to take up 90% of my hard drive storage.

Yeah, I’ve heard so many good things about Psychonauts that I feel like I’ll have to pick it up.
