New Turok gameplay vids: Shooting dinosaurs is effing sweet!

This is Turok, for next-generation consoles. Turok: Evolution this is not. Now that we’ve figured out this discrepancy, I can rave about the two new awesome gameplay videos recently released on GameTrailers. The first one, pictured above, may start out kind of slow, taking out little dinosaurs with a strange looking machine gun. However, it speeds up very quickly in the second half. The T-Rex? Pretty freaking sweet. I’ve always wanted to kill a T-Rex in super 3D. (Note: NOT sh*tty Turok: Evolution 3D.)

After watching the first video, I became immediately worried about the gameplay. There really doesn’t seem to be too much strategy to killing the dinosaurs, as it seems that you can just run around and gun them down. However, after seeing the second video, located after the jump, all my inhibitions were, as Jessica Simpson would say, thrown to the wind!

What do you guys think? Good? Bad? Ugly?

Man, whoever was playing in that second video was pretty awful. I think he hit his teammate as many times as he hit the dinosaurs.

The knife kill “cutscene” was cool, but I can imagine it getting annoying if it happened every time.

Overall, it looks like a pretty mindless shooter, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I think most fans of the genre have moved on.

It does look rather mindless. The original Turok, if compared to most FPS today, would still be considered rather different from the norm (possibly a bad thing for those of you who weren’t fans of the jumping parts, I actually kind of liked the anxiety that offered). So long as a control swap would be in effect…if you recall the original one was mapped like a Southpaw FPS of today…I would be totally down for a Turok VC release.

What is shown here basically looks like any FPS of today with dinosaurs as the aliens instead, with just about as much ferocity, or lack thereof…they had an opportunity to create a truly chilling and frightening experience with bloodthirsty and aggressive dinosaurs who would maul the shit out of you if they caught you, but what we get here are a few pushover dinos and a T-Rex with over-used audio for it’s ‘roar’ (seriously devs, get the sound from the Jurassic Park T-Rex’s, that was bad ass).

Hopefully this pans out better than it looks.

I can’t see the video for some reason (probably becuase of these fucking school computers) but I have the demo of this game and it is pretty good from what I have played.
