Insanely high resolution Crysis screenshots are better than real life

By zizzy

Users at the redundant inCrysis Crysis Forums have figured out how to take screenshots of the Crysis demo at ridiculously high resolutions (they can basically set any resolution, as long as their computer can handle it), and posted plenty of pictures for those eagerly awaiting the game to drool over. I just love seeing anything at such high resolutions, and so many millions of beautiful pixels packed together so tightly makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Unfortunately, if you actually wanted to play at that resolution you’d have to duct tape 4 monitors together and it would just look like a slide show. It sure makes for some beautiful stills (found after the jump) though, doesn’t it?

A fun game amazing graphics do not make.

That’s really all this game has going for it right now. Gameplay was a little slow, I felt like I was plodding along at a snail’s pace.

I’m sticking with Bioshock for now.

Yeah, I can appreciate what they’re doing from a technical standpoint (moving the industry along and whatnot), but I can’t help but wonder if they’re making the game any fun. Perhaps this is just me talking as the guy who won’t/can’t buy a computer that will run Crysis.

I don’t have a computer that can play it and so unless they decide to bring it to consoles I don’t really care much about it, but I just couldn’t help but post these screenshots because they just look so nice regardless of gameplay.

That comment is just silly. I am not a Crysis fanboy and it’s clear to me that crysis is not your type of game. You are a doom kind of player, you like closed spaces with constant enemies sneaking up on you on every turn. Crysis is more thief like. Your comment is just so biased.”

Actually, his comment wasn’t biased at all. Slow game is slow. He made no comparisons to other games or made any hint as to his preference, it was a simple statement that the game did not move itself very well.

Your comment is silly. You assume you know what kind of games he likes despite the fact that he left the vaguest of hints to that fact–you even went so far as to mention a specific franchise.

He has his opinion. You have yours. If you’re going to shit all over it, at least do it better.

    I concur.

I agree with Morriwen - The gameplay isn’t constantly hi-speed, though there are many white knuckle moments, i personally was constantly thrilled by the situations i found myself in - sneaking behind enemy lines, sniping from far off… offered just as much in innovation and style as the IMHO over rated Bioshock… which is still enjoyed.

Different keystrokes for different folks i suppose… but this game i enjoyed on all levels.

Poor model collision on the guns. The model’s fingers intersect with the gun in many places. This is the sort of thing that should have been addressed long ago.

I would not say that those screen shots look better or anything like real life.

I have to agree; Great graphics, not as good as could be.
While I did enjoy Thief and Hitman crysis is just a visually stunning game with little exiting moments

Crysis was an interesting game for the fist half, where it was all very open, but it changed in the second half, and became a very different game.

As for bioshock, it had an excellent story, me thinks, but the game itself was bland in the gameplay sense. I still loved both games.

These screens are amazing, and according to filesize, they are only half (well, a little more) the quality the original poster was taking them at.

jpg 35 is linked to 34.
also the first one ( the island landscape) to me the terrain on the closest landmass on the right looks terrible. so… yeah.

WOW, my computer can’t even handle it on low. That’s truly impressive.

I’ve played every game for the PC from the original Wolfenstein and Crysis is BY FAR the best game ever.

I’ve played every game for the PC from the original Wolfenstein and Crysis is BY FAR the best game ever.

So how did you enjoy Barbie Fashion Show? Who was your favorite Psychonauts character? Do you think Frozen Bubble is overrated? Oh sorry, that’s Linux, you probably don’t count that as PC.

Plus, by the original Wolfenstein do you mean Castle Wolfenstein, or Wolfenstein 3D?

I felt like Crysis is Far Cry 2.0. Much better graphics, similar gameplay problems, and a good shooter. The “best game ever” would depend very heavily on the type of games you like, how heavily you weight innovation, and such. I was setting up a comment with several games that I felt I could legitimately argue as the best game ever, but I realized there’s a list of at least 20 that are just way up there, and can’t be separated.

There is no best game ever, because our experience with the game colors our vision of the game. When I was very young I loved Sim Farm for a while. Thanks to DosBox I went back and played it recently, and realized just how bad it was. I was frustrated by Chrono Trigger originally, but loved it as an adult.
