Major Nelson wields a mighty banhammer
Since the beginning of time those without skill have cheated their way to glory. Even today some gamers, although they do not deserve to be called that, cheat for achievements. There are some who do not care about earning those points, and instead just want to artificially increase their score through the efforts of others who are actually capable of playing the game. They have so far gone unpunished, free to exploit the system and gain virtual points that cannot be redeemed for anything more than bragging rights among others who are addicted to being rewarded for virtual deeds.
However, all of their lies and deceitful numbers are about to be gone forever. Major Nelson says that anyone who has tampered with their gamerscore may sign in only to find that every single one of the points they cheated to get are gone - they will be sent straight back to zero, and won’t be able to get them back. If that’s not enough, they might even ban cheaters’ accounts and consoles from Xbox Live so they can never again pollute the groups of hard working gamers with their numerical lies.

I strongly urge you not to tamper with your Gamerscore and Achievements. If you decide to employ some nefarious techniques to artificially increase your Gamerscore or obtain achievements by manipulating the Xbox software without playing the game, bad things will happen. What type of bad things? For one thing we may remove the entire Gamerscore for an account that contains manipulated gamerscore. Let me be more clear: If you use tampered gamesaves to boost your Achievements and Gamerscore, you may sign in to Xbox LIVE one day and discover that we have removed your Gamerscore. Once we do that, you will never be able to re-earn those achievements on that account. Even worse, you might have your account and/or console banned from Xbox Live.
As you can imagine, we know how to find out if you do this and we do take action. And we’ll continue to do so.
Remember - Microsoft is watching you. So if you know what’s good for you, don’t anger them or you may wake up one morning to find Major Nelson waiting for you with a BAN at the ready.
Something tells me this is going to start looking a whole lot less crowded pretty soon.
