First Halo 3 Matchmaking Playlist update

By zizzy

The first playlist update for Halo 3 has now gone live, and Bungie has the details on what they’ve changed:

  • Big Team Battle matches are now 16-player affairs.
  • In the Team Slayer playlist, the appearance of Shotty Snipers has been greatly reduced.
  • Now, when players veto Shotty Snipers, the game that results from the veto will not be Shotty Snipers.
  • In one-sided VIP matches, the attacking team will now see a waypoint for the VIP they are hunting.
  • In Lone Wolves, Slayer gametypes will appear more frequently.
  • Not too many changes, but some that have been asked for and look like they will make certain playlists even better. Good to see Bungie keeping the game fresh, and if Halo 2 is any indication we’ll be getting plenty more of these.

      Woot! LESS SHOTTY SNIPES!

I’m happy with all of those except the Lone Wolves one. I happen to like objective games (and I think Slayer gets boring really fast), AND it’s going to make getting some of the Achievements even more difficult, for those of us who want to actually achieve our Achievements instead of just asking the people to “help us out.”

I was hoping to get the Overkill and Killing Frenzy Achievements on a game of King of the Hill.

Man, backflip and I were just talking about this. Thank you jeeeeeeebus for less shotty snipers.

Yeah, I played for a good 2 hours of Ranked Team Slayer tonight and only had to play Shotty Snipers once. They’ve done a good job with it.

Although, Dex, I do like Oddball and Crazy King in Lone Wolves. Slayer to 25 when you’re by yourself isn’t nearly as fun as Team Slayer.

on the contrary i think lone wolves should be slayer only. oddball doesnt always show the best player out of the 5 or 6 in the match. oddball can be just a lucky person who hides with the ball.

I also think all objective games should stick to the team game types. Its bad enough that kills could easily be stolen in lone wolf but KotH and oddball are a million times worse. It just takes little skill to play these games. Hide with the ball or jump in the hill after the real players battle it out. You may say this is strategy but what it is really called is being a pussy.

Renegade - Playing Slayer with no team to 25 just gets old and annoying very quickly. I like some variety in my Lone Wolves.
