Lego Star Wars: Wii Controls
The Wii controller is perfectly suited for a lightsaber game, and while Lego Star Wars won’t be near as in depth as The Force Unleashed, you get to swing a lightsaber around using the Wiimote - and that’s what matters. In the above video, watch as the controls are demonstrated for various things you’ll be doing in Lego Star Wars. While it’s mostly just shaking the controller like it owes you money, Lego Star Wars isn’t meant to be an elaborate game so that might be just what it needs. As for using the lightsaber, it doesn’t look that exciting. It seems fun, but considering there’s only about two attacks you can do there’s not a whole lot of control - it looks like you just swing the Wiimote and the game does the rest.

Looks really … gimmicky.
That’ll get old VERY quickly.
In the original Lego Star Wars games, you just pushed the B button to attack, and when up close or deflecting shots, the lightsaber slash was random for the most part; since the beginning I’ve kinda come to the conclusion that 1:1 swordsplay is not possible on the Wii, at least not without a rear sensor bar to pick up backswing (which is why I worry about Top Spin on the Wii as well). Besides, how else do people expect players to control General Grievous? Grow two more arms and use all four Wii-motes?
This is one of those cases where allowing a Gamecube controller would be a good idea, as Lego Star Wars really isn’t a game that requires the next gen graphical horsepower to run, and it’s not like Wii owners would miss out on anything if the controls were normal. In any case, I don’t see this as a big deal though, it sounds just like Twilight Princess. Then again, I’m sexy fit.
