SUPER SECRET UPDATE: Gaming Mole Reports Xbox 360 Retail Changes & Pack-in Games for October; Pre-Orders Now Taken Down

[UPDATE 2.0: The links posted previously for the bundle pre-orders that appeared just hours ago on Best Buy's website can no longer be accessed or they no longer exist. No word on whether Microsoft is behind the take down, but we do know now that these sales will happen for sure. Et tu, Bill Gates? -- masterledz]
[UPDATE: Mr. Monty Mole did his job right. Today, listings have appeared on Best Buy's Web site which supports his claims - both the Xbox 360 Elite Bundle ($449.99) and the Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Bundle ($349.99) are listed starting today, and available for pre-order. -- masterledz]
Ars Technica’s gaming blog, Opposable Thumbs, reported yesterday that their mole inside the gaming world (wherever that is) has information regarding the Xbox 360 at retail that appears to be concrete. Well, nice to mole you…meet you. Nice to meet you, mole.
Dates, deals and doozies are on tap for the coming weeks from Microsoft, pending their official announcements. Hit the jump for mole details:
October 9: The Xbox 360 Pro package will come with Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance as pack-ins. The games will be in one case, similar to the Sega GT 2002/Jet Grind Radio Future combo disc that was packed-in with the original Xbox for a time, but in this case each game will come on its own DVD.
October 23: The Elite will get the same package. No price drops on either system, you just get two free games with it.
“At the end of October”: New Xbox Core Sku that will include a new version of the system with an HDMI port, wireless controller, 256MB memory card, and five arcade games on a physical disc. The games will be Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2. This package is expected to retail for the normal Core price of $279.99.
Holy guacamole, looks like we’re in for a very competitive Halloween season. Wait, I mean holiday season. My mole-stake…err…mistake.

Damn, that’s a really good deal. From what I’ve heard of it, Forza 2 is a great game, and getting that combined with the solid Marvel Ultimate Alliance is just another reason to buy a 360.
YOU HEAR THAT MORTY?
Oh, and MOLEY MOLEY MOLEY MOLEY! THERE’S A GIANT MOLE ON YOUR FACE.
What I’m miffed about is that I bought Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Gold Edition (has included DLC from XBL) for $50 about a month ago. Now it’s going to be a free pack-in?! Furthermore, you get the freaking game included and then you only have to pay like $10 in MSPoints to get all the DLC. I’VE BEEN HAD!
Damn right, I hear ya backflip. Hopefully this pans out, and if so I may very well hop on this. But there is NO price drop, then?
They should start including the hard drive in all systems, even the core.
Yeah, really. What’s the point of buying a console without a hard drive and then having to pay almost as much for some tiny, shitty memory card.
The Best Buy links are already down. Damn, they’re fast.
Wait a minute, aren’t those prices higher than usual?
Wait, nevermind. I can’t stand how there’s like 900 different types of systems. Makes it confusing for the consumer…dammit.
@ zizzy
Wow, they were up an hour ago. Wow. Microsoft and their secrets.
Secrets, serious business.
Tip acknowledged & post updated. They’re for cereal.
Goddammit, so if I had waited like, two weeks, I would have gotten two free games with my 360? Son of a bitch.
