Resident Evil: Extinction mini-review
Thanks to a co-worker and her free passes (no way I’d pay to see this after the last atrocity) I had the pleasure (I use the term pleasure very loosely here) of seeing a pre-release screening of the new Resident Evil movie. I went in not expecting much in the way of plot or character development. Resident Evil: Extinction did not disappoint.
*spoiler alert*
The moment things fell apart for me was when one of the members of the group is attacked by a zombie, and has the zombie on top of him. Another member shoots him with a shot gun. Now for some reason, they decide they don’t need to check out the guy who was attacked, and we see that he has been bitten on the chest. Way to be careful about protecting yourselves from that virus. It’s almost as if they want to die. This sets the tone for the entire movie, and the complete lack of any sense of intelligence shown by the characters throughout.
Don’t even get me started on the supposed “unkillable” enemy faced at the end, who then dies in one of the most boring end sequences in the history of action cinema. Just when we thing we’re in for a huge fight scene, instead we are presented with a laser security system doing the guy in. Really? No long drawn out fight sequence? She isn’t even going to kill him herself? all you had going for you was action sequences, and you don’t even want to end on a high note?
Do yourselves a favor, avoid this movie like you would the T-Virus.

Man, I was really hoping this was going to be good.
I know it didn’t quite have a good track record, but…Zombies? In Las Vegas? With a pretty cool trailer? I thought it could be a decent movie…too bad it isn’t.
