Sony Defense Force’s “Unbiased” Halo 3 Ad Remix [UPDATE]

By zizzy

UPDATE: Hey guys, this is lawl. The SDF being a satire site that is completely devoid of humor is something that I’ve known for a while, because I have a bit of history with both SDF and Wii60, but as of today, Razoric, or Rob Foor, has officially been outed by the guys at the Sony Protection Group, and the internet is a better place because of it.

You’ve probably seen the Halo 3 “Museum” Ad and the subsequent parody (if not, you really should watch them) - and now, the Sony Defense Force has seen fit to add their own remix. This “honest, unbiased” (yeah, right) remix basically fails at, well, everything. It isn’t funny, clever, or even entertaining at all.

Not to mention how inaccurate the message they attempt to convey is (not that you would expect anything else from them). The footage compared is obviously going to look different. Not only is “The Reality” a beta, which means it is not even the finished product, but much of it is from multiplayer, which will obviously look less spectacular then single player.

However, the ultimate irony comes when they show some KillZone 2 footage. After attacking the change in Halo 3’s graphics from the announcement trailer to the unfinished multiplayer beta, they bring out the one game most well known for having faked good graphics when it was first shown.

Seriously, don’t these people have anything better to do…like play some good games? Oh right

Okay. That’s great. Are we back to the stages of comparing target renders ( Hello Killzone 2) to pre-alpha footage? Wonder where the finished footage of Halo 3 is in the ‘ad’? Oh that’s right….the SDF is too busy hitting F5 on BNet right now to see if there’s any new MP info, to actually post it.

Tell you what SDF…in 2008, I’ll still be playing Halo 3, you’ll be trying to play Killzone 2,… you let me know how that Friends list and website support works out for your game.~

heh. Fanboys make me LOL. Halo 3 is gonna be an amazing game, and Killzone 2 looks pretty freaking awesome as well. Why can’t we just love both and get along?

That being said, I really do like the Museum ad campaign. And the first parody of it was hilarious. Illogical fanboi drivel? …Not so much.

I am not a Halo fan, nor a Killzone fan, Nor am I a sony, microsoft or nintendo fan. I am a gamer

with that said, this video blows balls, the original spoof was hilarious. This, well this is just sad and shows how people gasp for attention.

Sony Defense Force is a joke.

Why haven’t they been kicked off the internet yet?

  9. Dexter345 September 18th, 2007 4:17 pm

Yeah, wow, that was terrible. I’m especially confused about why everybody seems to think Killzone looks so good. Perhaps it would have, if it weren’t for some designer coming in and saying, “Yeah, this is great guys, but you know what? I want everything to be brown. Can we make that happen?”

  10. DeathFromAbove September 18th, 2007 4:31 pm

wait it sounds like they are talking about Kill Zone 2 and not Halo 3. lol

  11. Zaver September 18th, 2007 4:36 pm

It wasn’t beta shots of Halo 3 they showed but rather alpha shots. The Halo 3 footage was from the multiplayer vidoc that was released a month prior to the and it said alpha version in the lower left hand corner.

  14. Eschatos September 18th, 2007 9:44 pm

Was that supposed to be funny?

  15. pwnage September 18th, 2007 9:50 pm

I guess Sony is just jealous of Halo 3 because of all of the endorsement deals (Mountain Dew,Pontiac,IMAX,Target,Seven 11,Best Buy,Doritos,Burger King, etc.,etc, etc,)well,Sony fanboys, just tell me when your game achieves the same level and class as Halo 3…to pass the time y’all can go play good games…OH WAIT!I JUST REMEMBERED!THERE’S NONE FOR THE PS3!!!LAWLSNESS!!!

The best part of the comparison is that the ‘unfinished’ multiplayer Halo 3 beta was less, even than that. It was, actually using graphical assets (that’s models, textures, and animations for those unclear on the concept) from Halo 2, not the production assets from Halo 3.

This allowed them to save bandwidth since it was all downloaded to everyone rather than delivered on disc. Also, the visuals didn’t matter; all Bungie was looking for was feedback on the way the game’s mechanics and weapons and such interacted, so that they could (if they felt necessary) make adjustments and balance changes to the multiplayer game, for further internal testing and tweaking. (Also, naturally, even a gimped beta like that will generate hype and word-of-mouth.)

And as has been mentioned, comparing Halo 3 (which never, to my knowledge, attempted to pass off pre-generated-on-a-render-farm, non-interactive footage as ‘actual in-engine visuals’) to Killzone 2 is much like hearing Richard Nixon delcare ‘I am not a crook!’

  18. JeffAU September 19th, 2007 3:08 pm

    What music is that?

  19. JeffAU September 19th, 2007 3:35 pm

  21. Grand Master P September 23rd, 2007 10:15 pm

At least halo3 comes out tomorrow. And at least halo 3 is getting respectable 9.5’s. Sony envy force sounds more like it.

  22. Seph September 24th, 2007 4:37 pm

    Yeah, what’s the music?

  23. pete September 26th, 2007 11:28 am

The music is Chopin’s Prelude No. 15.

  24. Lord Ambitious October 1st, 2007 1:18 am

Did Anyone else here read the SDF review of Bioshock, they said it would not be worth playing unless it was on blur-ray on the PS3 because apparently Disc type, not programming skill determines graphics, LOL at them, they het a Shattered Dream Pie. @!@#!ing N00bz

  25. Darkzero October 6th, 2007 9:33 pm

Halo 3 is Junk Killzone 2 will Kill it you know why all 360 games are Short and sux in the Long run thay don’t have the Room to hold all the Grafix thay put in them thats why halo 3 was a Short game that is why Gears Of war is a Short game in the End Killzone 2 will have a Better Story longer Game play and Better online play becuse for Halo3 to be good thay would have to HAve it on 2 Discs becuse DvD suck for Next Gen and so dose 360

  26. MEMEMEME08 June 3rd, 2008 12:21 pm

You do know SDF is a joke site and is owned by the makers of nintendo defence force and microsoft defence force

  27. zizzy June 4th, 2008 5:46 am

    @MEMEMEME08
You do know that it says that in the post itself, right? And it’s the makers of Wii60, not some made-up defense forces.

Some people can be so stupid, complaining about a post without even reading the first few sentences.
